ABOUT THE ARTIST

Biography:

Kyte Tatt is an American painter based in Berlin, Germany. Working across painting, drawing, collage, and mixed media, his practice combines gestural abstraction with autobiographical symbolism to explore themes of freedom, transformation, memory, and humanity’s relationship with the natural world. Born in the United States, Tatt relocated to Berlin in 2015, where he developed a distinctive visual language characterized by expressive mark-making, layered surfaces, and recurring personal iconography. His paintings invite multiple interpretations rather than fixed narratives. Tatt’s work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions across Europe and at international art fairs. He’s represented by galleries in Germany, Spain, and Sweden, and his paintings are held in private collections throughout Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia.

Artist statement :

Much like diamonds formed under prolonged pressure on decaying matter, my paintings emerge through the  prolonged pressures of a decaying world. Nature offers the language through which I understand and express these experiences, revealing metaphors for resilience, transformation, beauty, and loss. Imagination intertwines with memory through a visual language of color, line, gesture, and mark. Rather than illustrating fixed narratives, my work creates space for open interpretation, where recurring symbols and forms become vessels for emotion, lived experience, and personal mythology. I am drawn to the way nature explains life, the quiet strength of a flower, the persistence of growth, and the coexistence of fragility and power. These relationships continue to shape my process and the worlds that unfold in each painting.
